Mêlant des images de films institutionnels américains tournés entre les années 10 et 70 à des extraits de manuels de gestion du début du XXe siècle, Le facteur humain vise à montrer la genèse du taylorisme et les principaux effets de sa diffusion au sein des sociétés industrialisée. C’est aussi une histoire d’amour.

Mingling images of American institutional movies to texts extracted from handbooks of management from the early 20th century, The Human Factor aims at showing the genesis of Taylorism and its main effects upon industrial societies. It is also a love story.

Synopsis / Storyline
En 1914, un ingénieur en déplacement pour réorganiser une usine correspond avec sa femme. A mesure qu’il lui décrit les principes du taylorisme, elle s’approprie ces méthodes et les applique à ses tâches quotidiennes. Alors qu’il s’avère très déçu par le taylorisme, sa femme devient une véritable ingénieure domestique.

In 1914, an engineer sent away to reorganize a factory exchanges letters with his wife. As he tells her about his experiments in taylorism, she picks up bits and pieces of this method and applies it to her daily tasks at home. While he gets disappointed by the Taylor system, she becomes a true domestic engineer.
